Bangladesh vs England: Live Match Report
England and Bangladesh are currently facing off against each other in the 7th match of the 2023 Cricket World Cup at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, India. England won the toss and elected to field first.
Bangladesh got off to a steady start, with openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das putting on a 50-run partnership. However, England soon made inroads, with David Willey dismissing both openers in quick succession.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim then steadied the ship for Bangladesh, putting on a 100-run partnership for the third wicket. Shakib was particularly aggressive, hitting 11 fours and a six on his way to 84 runs.
Mushfiqur was also in good form, scoring 74 runs off 112 balls. However, he was dismissed by Adil Rashid in the 49th over, with Bangladesh on 268/5.
Mahedi Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz then put on a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket to help Bangladesh finish on a strong score of 322/6 in their 50 overs.
England's innings
England got off to a poor start in their chase, losing three early wickets with the score on just 90 runs. However, Joe Root and Jos Buttler then put on a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket to revive England's chase.
Root was the dominant partner in the partnership, scoring 77 runs off 104 balls. Buttler also played a good hand, scoring 53 runs off 65 balls.
However, Root was dismissed by Shakib in the 35th over, with England on 200/4. Buttler followed him to the pavilion shortly after, dismissed by Mahedi Hasan.
Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone then put on a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket to keep England in the hunt. However, England lost regular wickets after that and were eventually bowled out for 309 in the 49th over.
Bangladesh win by 13 runs
Bangladesh won the match by 13 runs to register their first win of the tournament. Shakib Al Hasan was named the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Conclusion
Bangladesh played a very good match today and deservedly won by a comfortable margin. England will need to improve their batting if they are to challenge for the World Cup title.
